Favorite Seller Top Picks
Feature Type:
Feature Enhancement

Anticipated Launch Date:
March 2005

Developer Impact:
This feature impacts Developers with selling applications that use SetUserPreferences and GetUserPreferences API calls, and support sellers that utilize the Favorite Seller Digest on eBay.

Feature Description:
In October 2004 eBay introduced the Favorite Seller Digest, an optional email where buyers could choose to receive information about the latest items listed by their Favorite Stores Sellers. eBay is renaming this email to “Favorite Sellers Top Picks”, and is introducing a new online “Favorite Sellers Top Picks” page. All Sellers will now have the ability to choose which items they want to showcase to their buyers, and buyers will be able to see items from their Favorite Sellers in one place.

Sellers can select specific items, or have items automatically chosen for them based on their preferences. Sellers will be able to access and update their Top Picks Preferences via the API or via the Seller Preferences section in My eBay once the feature is introduced.

The SetUserPreferences call will allow sellers to indicate whether they would like to be in Automatic or Automatic Selection mode for the Favorite Seller Top Picks Preferences. The GetUserPreferences call will indicate to the seller what buyer preferences are, including their preference for Favorite Sellers Top Picks.

Feature Benefits:
The benefits of this new online page include a strong potential for increase in bid rates, and a new and easy way for buyers to identify items to purchase their Favorite Sellers.
