Platform Notification

Anticipated Launch Date:

September 2005

Developer Impact:

This feature impacts developers who have or are building applications which incorporate the Item Not Received functionality.

Feature Description:

In addition to using the XML API calls, a qualifying application can have eBay send transaction data to a URL or an email address that the application monitors. This service is called eBay Platform Notifications. Notifications are triggered by programmatic events that fire after a listing has ended, a transaction has been created, feedback has been left, messages have been sent, or certain other changes have occurred.

Developers will have the ability to subscribe to the service where eBay sends Item Not Received notifications when an Item Not Received filing happens, the buyer updates the Item Not Received file by responding to seller communication, or the Item Not Received file is closed.

Four Notifications will be created:

-
INR_BUYER_OPENED_DISPUTE
-
INR_BUYER_RESPONDED_TO_DISPUTE
-
INR_BUYER_CLOSED_DISPUTE
-
INR_SELLER_RESPONDED_TO_DISPUTE
|

The GetNotifcationPreferences and SetNotificationPreferences API calls will be modified to accept the new event type.

| Both buyers and sellers can sign up for these notifications, although INR_SELLER_RESPONDED_TO_DISPUTE is particularly buyer focused.
|

Please consult eBay API documentation for more details.

Feature Benefits:

| This feature ensures that those eBay Sellers, that are using third party applications to manage their businesses, will be able to receive appropriate notifications during the Item not Received filing process.
