REST XML-to-HTML Transform
Feature Type:

New Feature - This feature End of Lifed March 15, 2008

Anticipated Launch Date:

September 2005

Developer Impact:

Developers can now provide a stylesheet and have eBay return the results of a GetSearchResults call in HTML, formatted according to the stylesheet.

Feature Description:

This feature enables 3rd party Developers and Affiliates to invoke REST API call requests to eBay that include their presentation-layer specifications, thus allowing eBay to extract information from the XML document and format it into a single HTML file that is returned to the 3rd party. The parameters passed in the REST request can specify the details of the search to execute, along with the formatting specifications of an XSLT stylesheet to run against the search results.

Feature Benefits:

The benefit of this feature is that 3rd parties get server-side transformation of the XML that they submit to eBay via the API, minimizing the need for Affiliates and Developers to modify the data that is passed back to them.
